Rhetoric | Religion | Renaissance
This website showcases my work as a scholar and teacher of rhetoric.
My research explores how religion and rhetoric have collided and combined across history.
My teaching assumes that reading exemplary texts, honing rhetorical skills, and engaging in public advocacy are complementary endeavors. Like the Renaissance humanists I study and the Deweyan pedagogues I admire, I believe education must stem from the experience and aptitudes of the student.
In my podcasts and videos, I mine three millennia of rhetorical wisdom to help popular audiences imagine and aspire to a culture of wise, just, and passionate argumentation. You can follow these efforts on twitter.
